How long would Manic Panic Amplified Pillarbox Red last if I was only dyeing the tips of my hair?

Sea Trials asked: I’m dyeing my hair black with red tips. I’ve heard about Manic Panic’s product but they’re only semi-permanent. About how long would the amplified version last (pillarbox red)?
Are there any other permanent products that would look great and last long for a bright unnatural red?

as long as you bleach it, it should last a little over a month.
if you want it to stay longer, wash your hair every other day instead of every day. get a color safe shampoo. and if you didnt know already, bleach it before you color. some people know that, some people don’t. lol.
and manic panic is fairly low-damage, so you can redye as soon as it fades.

i dont really know of any permanent ones that you can buy without being a stylist though.

If you are dying a red color on top of dyed black hair it will not work. It will come out a brassy black color. Tint will not lift tint, meaning you can not put a lighter dye on top of darker dyed hair. I would suggest bleaching the ends and then dying the red color. You can pick up several types of permanent dyes in “shocking” colors in about every beauty store like Sally’s. If you are not comfortable bleaching and then dying your hair, I suggest going to a salon. Hint** There are numbers that appear on the dye bottles (such as 4.5 or 3) that indicates how dark the tint is. Good Luck
