H1N1 doesn’t come on gradually, it hits you hard and takes about three hours. You likely have a cold.

First of all, antibiotics will not help the flu. Antibiotics are for bacterial infections. The flu is caused by a virus. Second, a slight cough and sometimes stuffy nose is more or likely a cold than a flu. If you’re overly worried, check with a doctor.

treat the symptoms that you have. If someone around you has the flu and you just started feeling symptoms, talk to your doctor about Tamiflu. Otherwise, keep good Hygiene and treat your current symptoms. Nasal spray and some cough drops should help. Also, drink plenty of water!!! If you get a high fever or have body aches, you most likely have the flu call your doctor for advice on treatment. Hope you feel better and your nephew too!!

the swine flu and the regular old flu are very similar however, the swine flu presents a fever greater than 101. it sounds to me you have seasonal allergies. as for your nephew he is no longer contagious after 24-48 hrs on antibiotics. i still dont reccomend you drink from his cup. regular handwashing with warm water and an antibacterial soap for 30 seconds in between your fingers ,under your fingernails and all the way up to your wrists is the best way to prevent any flu illness.

It might just be a cold. I had a cold and I was stuffy mostly at night with a mild cough.

With either type of flu (seasonal or H1N1) the symptoms hit you hard and fast. Usually within a few hours of starting to feel ill.
