if there is a problem with the claim they might give them some information you don’t want them to have. try going to planned parenthood they won’t charge you anything or tell your parents.

Uh yes, it will send you a copy of what your insurance is pending on and it WILL give the name of the clinic and what was done. Best bet is to go to a local Health Department and get them there, i know they can be nasty but you can pay cash and its really cheap. Good Luck!

In the experience I have had both with being on my parents insurance and now having my own. The paperwork and information from the insurance will tell the name of the doctor who is billing the insurance and if any lab tests were done it will tell that a lab test was performed but I have never had it say specifically what any of my lab tests were for. However if your parents are the type to ask you about a visit to the clinic you will probably have to explain to them what is wrong that you require a lab test (a pelvic exam is required almost everywhere for a birth control prescription)

I would suggest talking with your parents about this so there are no suprises if something does come up and they want to question it.

They will send an EOB to the billing address on file. That EOB will state the doctor, date of service, procedure, diagnosis, the cost of it, etc. If there are lab tests on there, it will specify which ones performed. Its basically the claim the doctor submitted to your insurance, which will have all the information of the visit on there.

That EOB will also be available online, if your parents use the online options w/ their insurance.

Best bet, if you don’t want them knowing…get some money together and either go to Planned Parenthood or the local Health Department. Some Planned Parenthood’s have sliding scales for prices.

Or, talk w/ your parents about it.

They send an explanation of benefits - it will show how much is paid out, and to whom - but it won’t say what was done, and it won’t give any test results.

They might send you an EOB, or explanation of benefits (to your parents) if that is the address on file. Do they have a Planned Parenthood in your state? That would be a good, anonymous way to do it maybe.

I hope that helps!

yes the explanation will go to your parents listing the clinic name and depending on your parent’s health plan - it may not pay for the type of clinic and service you are asking about. Go to the clinic and let them know you will pay that day at the clinic. usually the charges are minimal.
