no comments.I don’t know what is going on, but I recently heard that two of the largest jewelry stores in my area are going out of business. I have seen ads for both of them recently, and they are both having huge going out of business sales for the holiday season. These stores both are local, and they both have names that I have heard for most of my life. I don’t know if it is just coincidence or if perhaps the demand for fine jewelry has gone down drastically in the last few years.
If I am going to shop at jewelry stores I tend to go to those that I know are owned and operated locally. There is a Kay Jeweler in my local mall, but I don’t like to go there. I don’t find the service to be quite as good as the locally owned jewelry stores that I have known my whole life. I’m not saying there is anything wrong with Kay, I just prefer to support local businesses, and I do find that they have a touch of something that the mall chains just do not offer.
If you do notice that local jewelry stores are going out of business, you may want to go in for some really great deals. You might want to go in for the initial sale, as all of the good stuff will probably go then. They will lower their prices even more to get rid of the remaining inventory, but by that time, most of the stuff in the store will be the more unusual pieces that you may not like. Remember that jewelry stores often have a lot of mainstream items, and those are always the first to go, leaving the specialty ones for the really good sale prices.
If you don’t have any jewelry stores in your area going out of business, you can still find good deals if you wait for sales or if you look online. There are a lot of jewelry stores that are online only, and they can offer a better price because they don’t have the overhead of the real store to worry about. They can still make a good profit without charging you what you may find in some of your local stores. Don’t think you can’t afford fine jewelry; just know that you may have to search a while for a good price.
