Make sure that you take some time for yourself every day. I suggest taking 15 minutes in a private, quiet spot and do it at the same time everyday. Do some breathing exercises and think about the things you love about your job. Remember that words are powerful and if you speak it to yourself that you like your job and you like the children, you will find that your body, mind, and soul believe it.

Keep your tone of voice at a normal level, and count to ten till the stress passes. Encourage the children to get involved in the tasks more and keep them interested. Take advantage of your breaks to relax a little. Kids need to be kept busy. Their stress is passing onto you. Remember to leave work in work.

take a break… breathe in…breathe out… and repeat after me…i love children…but i couldnt eat a whole one…

and let the kids hear you..

fee fi fo fum… is that the teacher carrying a great big gun… fee fi fo fum… the teachers angry, here she come, scowling and with knotted vein, as she beats the children, with her cane

she’ breaks their bones, and grinds to dust, causing pain, as she must.. for only in their sufffering screams, can the teacher sleep without bad dreams.. …

my eldest daughter is a nursery nurse… is it a vocation, or is it a curse..and you love the kids which makes it worse.. snippy, snappy, and very terse.

smile seetly and pat their head, safe in the knowledge theyre soon off to bed..

i wish for you, a gift so rare that money cant buy it..
i do hope you get some peace and quiet.

If you get stress at work, you’re in the wrong job. Work should give you pressure, not stress. You experience stress from things like your puppy dying, nothing work related should have that kind of impact on you!

I know how you feel I used to be a nursery nurse with 25 two year olds to care for,( I had 2 assistants ). I loved every day but it was often stressful and very tiring. I did not get any time throughout the day to take a break but found that if I could sit them all down for half an hour and tell them stories that relaxed me, also seeing the funny side of things they do keeps you sane. I also found singing songs with the children ( very loud songs) a great stress buster !!!!all the best sorry I can’t help more !!

look at what seems to be stressing u the most eg the children your work load and try and make stratergies for coping with these perhaps better time management or talking with your colleagues and asking how they cope. maybe trying some simple relaxation techniques deep breathing screaming etc

i work with disabled kids between 3 and 7 yrs old i know exactly what you mean but when i have stress at work i always listen 2 my fav music on the way home from work then i take a lovely hot shower or bath, and spend about an hour on my own just to do nothing and it seems to work.

I also go swimming twice a week as well as in the sauna with my bf, sex helps really well when im stressed.

I love my job and though sometimes you feel like screaming and you never get a break during the day when you come home and shut the door thats your time.
Cooking, massages, sport just need to find something that’s good for you.

Don’t worry you will find your release from stress but most importantly talk about it get it off your chest.

Is the stress worth it even though you love working with children? If you’re stressed in work, you take it home with you. Work out what part of the job stresses you the most. Do a chart with certain times & activities and see what level of stress you get at the certain times. If you can pinpoint it to one or two then work out how you can overcome it by changing your work load. If it’s there every hour of the day then leave the job as it will only make you ill.

The best way you can beat stress is work is to figure a way to control the things that you feel are out of control. What causes work stress is often the fear of the unknown and feeling of not being able to control things. If you can control your work…it no longer controls you and you can beging to enjoy work more. Teas, relaxations tapes, massages are all good but they are merely bandaids to the problem.

you should listen to classical music. you could put it on for the children as well as its for them as well. Good soothing music has no side-effects and is highly good for people leading to reduced anxiety and stress levels.

Treat yourself to something that you enjoy or like. Maybe go for a run, excersize releases stress out of your mind. Meditating or listening to music that you like.

Remember stress is created by your reaction to situations and is not to be confused with the situation itself.

I recently had some adverse situations, too long to go into here, but I suspect most people would find it stress inducing, but I kept reasonably calm. Not happy, but at least calm. When I met up with someone I was flat sharing with they hounded me so much about the situation that I felt unable to cope with him.

You see the stress was in my head. If you can keep calm in such situations and maybe train yourself to react passively and assertively to the things that get you worked up, you may stand a chance of conquering it. Just changing career/job will not cure your tendancy to feel stressed. Good luck!
