Is Heparin used in conjunction with dialysis. If so, are there any risks. Mom is 96 and on dialysis. Thanx?

Heprin may be used in conjunction with dialysis if indicated. The blood is drawn through the dialyzer and filtered. If your MOM has a problem with clotting , it won’t work well. That is when heprin is administered. It peaks during the treatment and Is close to out of her system after she is dialized.
Peak plasma levels of heparin are achieved 2 to 4 hours following subcutaneous administration, although there are considerable individual variations
