Heparin is an anticoagulant drug that thins blood and prevents blood from coagulating. When this drug is administered to newborn babies, it increases the possibilities of ongoing bleeding do to the lack of coagulation capabilities. Vitamin K helps in coagulation. That’s why newborns are injected with vitamin K when they are born to prevent bleeding

they bleed more when give them a heparin. they dont have enough vitamn k in teir circulation..
